{"id":194,"date":"2013-05-08T03:37:02","date_gmt":"2013-05-08T03:37:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/warletters.falkor.gen.nz\/?page_id=194"},"modified":"2013-06-26T05:17:11","modified_gmt":"2013-06-26T05:17:11","slug":"vic-mother-26-jul-1917","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/warletters.falkor.gen.nz\/?page_id=194","title":{"rendered":"Vic &#8211; Mother:  26 Jul 1917"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Walton on Thames<br \/>\nNo 2 NZ General Hospital<br \/>\nThurs July 26th 1917<br \/>\nDear Mother<br \/>\nI am still at the same hospital and I am getting on all right. \u00a0The wound is healing up quicker than I thought. \u00a0The stitches are all out and I can get up every day. \u00a0I think I will be fit to leave here too soon as everything \u00a0is so comfortable that I don&#8217;t mind how long it lasts. \u00a0When I left the trenches I had all my kit in another dugout and things were too hot to go back, \u00a0I lost everything except my money and pocket book \u00a0So that I will have to have everything issued over again. \u00a0When I left I was told my wound was worth\u00a0\u00a350 to any man. \u00a0I thought they were stretching it, but I am satisfied now that they were right, as this is a gentleman&#8217;s life with the best food in the country and everything that I can possibly want. \u00a0 The only drawback too it is that it wont last long enough, but I will have two weeks leave, with free railway to anywhere, before I go back to camp.
