N.Z. Discharge Depot
Torquay
March 23rd 1918
Dear Mother
Just got the NZ mail, the latest being one from you dated 13/1/18. I also got two very good parcels, a small tin of sugar which you thought would be stopped in the post, and a tin of cake and chocolate. They were all in perfect condition and the sugar was a treat. I got a Xmas Weekley from the Gas Company, a large number of Stars and some Observers. They were more than double the time that letters took, but the Observers were just as interesting as new ones. I dont know yet when we leave for NZ, but you will be advised by cable, perhaps before you get this letter. Reggie Bluck who is still at Brocton has wrote congratulating me, and wishes to be remembered to you all. Neil wrote on 17/3/18. He has left the hospital and is back in the convalescent depot, so that he must be improving. Norman was up near the line when I heard last. I am thinking that this may be my last letter from England.
