Dear Mum,
We are leaving here for France tonight.  We left the “Cambridge” hospital last Wednesday and have been in this camp ever since.  I am looking forward to seeing my old friend John McPherson again when I get over.

Vic is enjoying a weeks leave in London and we are hoping to see him at the station as we go through.  We have just finished the last lot of cake and butter and I can tell you it was “some” good.  Many thanks for the cake.  Everyone in the hut agreed that it was the best they had tasted since leaving N.Z.

The weather is very cold and the first snow that we have seen fell here yesterday.  We have had no letters for a month so we may get them any day now.

No time for any more now
Will write from oversea
